New York Power walks
This project is a festive questioning about identity.
New York, 400 years of immigration, 200 nationalities, like the rest of the United States , has been built by the immigrants coming from everywhere. American culture is made from this ethnic and racial diversity. All these tribes parade every week in the streets of the city to express their origins, their identity and claim their attachment to the american flag.
All neighborhoods and ethnic groups combined , there are more than hundred parades a year in New York.
The pictures are printed on giant tarpaulins ( 1mx1m Hd ) hanging from the ceiling with invisible nylon thread. The images seem to fall from the sky, like in the old coal mines changing rooms . The visitor walks in the midst of all these characters who watch him ” face to face ». When the visitor passes this crowd in black and white and turns around, he discovers another crowd in color this time , which proudly shows « The colors of America ».
